Yes, sometimes I think just that. I know that advice is given, mostly, with all the good intention in the world. People want to help, to feel that they can make your life better. However, sometimes I feel that it can be more of a hindrance than a help. Something that grips you with even more unanswered questions or guilt as to whether or not you are doing the right thing. If you could just do this or maybe that, you could make things right. Contradictory information sends you down endless, never-ending pathways, your spinning head trying to decide which to choose.

The truth is, everyone has an opinion, everyone has their own experience and everyone has their expertise. I have a disease, my daughter has a disease and if I were to follow every piece of advice sent my way we would probably cease to exist. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think advice is all wrong or always unhelpful. There are times when it can be just what you need to move forward or protect yourself from a potentially bad decision, but I do think that one needs to choose wisely and trust your “gut”. Your instincts and sense of self tell you where to go.

I believe we should follow our own path and know that we are always trying our best. Advice may come and go but ultimately you have to live your own life and trust the path you choose because it is you that must live with the consequences of those choices. This is my little piece of advice but please do whatever you wish with it 🙂

Brilliantly stated…… The biggest thing so many of us need to practice more often is really listening, rather than filling up the silence with advice.
